For the love of blogging
Sometimes I have to rebel from my blogging addiction because I start to get mouse arm. You know that one, right? My solution is to go and paint. You would think I wouldn't be able to paint since it is the same arm after all, but amazingly enough, I can! In fact all the aching from too much computer use seems to be transformed as my mind and body slip into 'painting mode' which is really like an altered state of consciousness altogether. Merging with the creative force is excellent meditation...
Note to self: Paint daily.
It probably also helped, of course, that the day before painting this, I went out into the woods and walked, thereby inspiring the painting. In fact, now that I think about it, the exercise also might of helped my arm. Hmmm...
Note to self: Exercise daily.
I will need to consider and be mindful of my time on the computer, and balance it out with other things. In fact, I was just staring out at the future vegetable garden of my back yard today, and thinking that soon I will be planting, maybe getting a few chickens...
Note to self: Get out of doors regularly and tend to the land.
In fact, I think I will go outside now and sow the poppy seeds so that Spring will call me out of the house when she comes...
Note to bloggers: Cat is outside and will return some time in the near future.

such talent!
Cat - I understand what you are saying about the blogger addiction. Since the Ascension contest, I've been too often on this computer! I just told myself today that I'm going to limit myself to once a day checking blogsites and am going to do something else as well. I have a piece of furniture I want to refinish and I want to exercise, too.
Your painting "zone" is a great place to be. Go there, go there! (But come back...)
Hi Cat~ Found you through Karen's blog. Your watercolors are beautiful. I love how you describe the feeling while you are painting. I feel the same, and always tell others it is like a 'working meditation.'
I look forward to seeing more of your paintings.
I've known you to be a spiritual person, Cat. You're attuned to balance, can sense when there's imbalance. Posting about this matter shows, too, that you are a sensible person; you have your way of diverting creative energy and attention to some other outlet, even for just a while. All for balance. There's a bit of Zen in you. Maybe a lot. ;) Cheers.
nice watercolor, cat :D
as for he rest... yup, time away from the net is soul-refreshing!
you're sowing seeds IN THE SNOW?
wow!
Elle (with noNo :-) Thank you!
Karen- Yes, let's make an agreement to get off this thing and do other things! Our health and happiness depends on it! Besides, there is a well deserved pride when you can hold a finished piece of labors of love in your hand.
Hi Calli, thank you for your kind words! And welcome to my site. I'll be over at your site exploring your work next. I hear through the grapevine that you are quite the artist, so I'm excited as to what I'm about to see!
S.L. I am probably more spiritual then I let on. I know this to be true from reading my journals. Although I do have a cynical cryptic face on occasion that could lead you to believe that I'm not, a good poet like you would see through that face. :-) Thank you my friend.
Laughingwolf, thanks! No snow here today. It was actually in the balmy 50s yesterday. I've found that seeds of early spring blooming annuals do better when sown in November. But my mother just sent the poppy seeds, so February will have to do! I hope it's not too late...
I like that painting too!
Those sound like good bits of self-advice. I have work to crack the whip, but if I spent more time at home, I'd definitely need to push myself.
Thanks Jason! So far (it's been one day) I'm doing an ok job at cracking the whip. I'd better go paint now though...
Cat! amazing painting... I want one! Colors are great too. very inspiring.
Thanks AC! I'm in the middle of painting another one. I think I will do a series of these, since I seem more inspired to paint the trees in their winter state, more than I am inspired to photograph them.
Lovely post and a beautiful painting!
Yes, I could also use all those notes to self... :-) if only I could find any time at all to do anything... :-)
Thanks Vesper. I know, I have the simple life compared to you. But you still manage time for some darned fine writing, so there's that!
Amen to all of this! (she types, while playing a board game with her son--I'm hopeless!! :P).
I can't wait for spring. I think it will make it easier to get outside and explore those parts of ourselves that shouldn't be neglected.
Keep painting, Cat...loving your work!! :)
Thanks Sarah! I know, I love Spring and Autumn the most for inspiration. But I am still finding inspiration in the dead of winter, and there is something still and quiet about that. A time to explore deeper places...
mmmm- Enjoying your art as well as your writing.
I identify with your notes to yourself. That creative zone of painting is far different than writing for me. I paint with my whole body (physically) and mentally, whereas, when I write, I feel "tighter", even when I write freehand.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you become a regular. I look forward to returning here and have "vibe-marked" you. (My original blog had the word "vibrations" in it.)
GeL, that is great about the Vibe! I know what you mean about painting v writing. I get a lot of pain from being at the computer all the time. Painting just frees it all right up! Welcome! And I'll add a link to my page!
